A cruise tour of Milford Sound featured Mitre Peak, Mount Pembroke, seals and cascading waterfalls. After a rain over a thousand temporary waterfalls appear from the cliffs but retreat within a half hour.
We hiked up to Gertrude Saddle Saturday afternoon with a glorious view of the valley below. The track was well-marked until it was obstructed by snow fields. After that it was guess and by gosh to the top.
A trek up to Marian Lake was rewarded with a refreshing plunge and more spectacular scenery. The turquoise water was as bracing as Lake Superior.
