Tanzania in 1999

A short term mission trip to Tanzania gave me my first international veterinary experience. I assisted a veterinarian in his work with the Maasai, harvested talapia from a newly constructed fish pond, and taught a class in cattle reproduction. I found that living and working with the people was far more rewarding than visiting as a tourist. Although I didn't come down with any exotic diseases while I was there, I did catch the travel bug and have been laid up for weeks at a time trying to manage it. Dave
