Fox Glacier was our ultimate destination the weekend of December 22-23. The face of this glacier is receding faster than my brother's hairline! I'm afraid Al Gore's ranting about global warming is legitimate.
We set up camp under moonlight on the shores of Lake Wanaka Friday night. These campgrounds are much like the National Forest Campgrounds in the States--limited services; find a spot for a tent; cheap--$6 per person per night.
Boundary Creek Campground on Saturday morning hosted scattered campers and a few tenacious midges. We have enjoyed the tenting--the weather has cooperated every weekend!
A sea lion on Waipapa Point kept Sue company on her midweek day trip. Notice his majestic mane.
